[ARCHIVED] Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Drug Take Back Event

On Saturday, October 29th, the Huron Police Department and the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Bring your pills for disposal to the lobby of City Hall at 239 Wisconsin Ave. SW. There is a drop box in the lobby. (The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. DEA and its partners will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Liquids (including intravenous solutions), syringes and other sharps, and illegal drugs will not be accepted. DEA will continue to accept vaping devices and cartridges at its drop off locations provided lithium batteries are removed. Helping people dispose of potentially harmful prescription drugs is just one-way DEA is working to reduce addiction and stem overdose deaths.

If you are unable to make the event, the drop box is available 24/7, just inside the east entrance of City Hall. This box can be used year-round, to help you dispose of unused medications and not have to wait until a collection event.
